THE COUNSELLING PROCESS

I am an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor, which means that I work with a number of different approaches so a wide scope of support can be offered adapting my approach to your needs. I will work to understand your unique way of experiencing the world and adapt my approach to suit you. I provide an environment which is supportive and valuing. I provide a safe, quiet and confidential space for you to talk about what you are finding difficult.

Together we would explore what was most important to you. Sometimes this might be discussing your past and the impact of this in the present day. To enable me to support this I would work in a psychodynamic way looking at how your experiences influenced your unconscious thoughts and feelings. My aim to help you make sense of issues and potentially explore different perspectives as well as empower you to build on your strengths or build new ones.

I also use cognitive behavioural therapy which can help to bring greater awareness and control to how feelings, behaviours and thoughts work together. Part of this approach might be also working on compassion and acceptance for self and others. I believe that our relationships are really important to our overall well-being, sometimes that we adopt early in our lives and/or our communication styles can keep us stuck and limit our potential, using transactional analysis we could look at this and change our patterns of being.

I hope to bring a level of experience and theoretical understanding to my work. My efforts will be to support you so you can begin to feel a sense of clarity, stability and growth. Its a big decision to embark on counselling and one that I have taken myself and found of huge benefit. Please feel free to reach out and ask questions, you have taken the first step!

FEES & AVAILABILITY

Sessions last 1 hour and are usually weekly, however this will be appropriate to your needs at the time. The cost will be £50 and paid in advance of the session via online booking.


Note that if you want to cancel an appointment I require 48 hours notice; otherwise you will need to pay for any sessions missed.
