I am a Relational Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor, which means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to offer support tailored to your individual needs. I work to understand your unique way of experiencing the world and adapt my approach accordingly. I provide a supportive, valuing, safe and confidential space where you can talk openly about what you are finding difficult.
I work in a Person-Centred way, meaning that I am led by you and what feels most important to you. I see the relationship between counsellor and client as collaborative and equal, with my role being to facilitate your self-understanding and empower you to find your own direction.
I also integrate neuroscience-informed approaches, somatic awareness and grounding techniques into my work. Understanding how the nervous system responds to stress, trauma and emotional experiences can help us make sense of reactions that may feel overwhelming or difficult to control. Somatic and grounding practices can support you in developing greater connection with your body, increasing emotional regulation and creating a greater sense of safety and stability in everyday life.
I believe that our relationships and life experiences play a significant role in our emotional wellbeing. Sometimes we can become stuck in patterns, beliefs or ways of relating that developed earlier in life. Through psychodynamic, attachment-based and Transactional Analysis approaches, we can explore how past experiences may continue to influence your present thoughts, feelings, behaviours and relationships. Together, we can begin to make sense of these patterns, explore different perspectives and support lasting change.
I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which can help bring greater awareness to the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviours. This approach can support you in recognising and challenging patterns that may no longer be helpful. Alongside this, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help reconnect you with your values, identify what is meaningful to you and support you in taking actions aligned with these values, even when facing difficulties.
I hope to bring a level of experience and theoretical understanding to my work. My efforts will be to support you so you can begin to feel a sense of clarity, stability and growth. Its a big decision to embark on counselling and one that I have taken myself and found of huge benefit. Please feel free to reach out and ask questions, you have taken the first step!
No matter how large the problem might seem or how stuck you might feel, I encourage you to make contact with me and see if we might be able to work together.
